Tour thoughts part 2

I'm not really one who keeps a daily journal, I'm pretty hopeless at writing. I'm thankful my web browser has spell check or else this blog would be riddled with typos, yet alone all my grammar mistakes.

After my last ride to Esperance however, I did manage to write a "THINGS NOT TO DO" list for my next trip... in typical Prawi form, I managed to lose it. So now I'm trying to think hard of all the things I could improve on.

I do remember riding the last 5 days without a map after we thought we left it at a service station, only to find it in the bottom of my brothers pannier bag when we arrived. Note to Self: Place map in same location every time.

I do remember our 1kg tub of Nutella being the best purchase ever (sarcasm?), as the trip went by I found new ways of mixing up my meals, this included but was not limited to:

A) Nutella x Jam combo

B) DIY Ferrero Rocher

C) Baked beans cheesy tomato! YES !

Despite being spoilt for choice when it comes to sandwiches (see picture), I really need to buy a stove.

pictured was my old tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat; bulky gear did have its pros, the sleeping bag made an awesome seat!

I'm no cook, but... a stove will enable me to
a) Boil Water for safe drinking and make tea/coffee
b) Cook two minute noodles (YESSSSSSS)
c) Warm baked beans so it aint so cold out the can.

hmm, I think I may need to take a few cooking classes before I leave.

Randomly came across this Video after researching down mats.

Its not very entertaining, but the product speaks for itself. Boils water incredibly fast due to some simple engineering with the use of a heat exchanger which, from the looks of it, increases the surface area which is heated thus increasing the efficiency of the stove.

Like a sleeping bag, there are so many different brands and models to choose from, I might take my time with this one. Probably not as essential because I'm a hopeless cook, but still worth some time and consideration.

My last trip was quite rushed, and I managed to overlook a few things.
-I didn't bring a towel.
-I didn't bring any plates.
-I didn't bring any matches.
-I didn't bring a knife.
(I also slept with a fork by my side just incase any intruders came by LOL)

Personal security is another issue. I'm not really worried about it, but I don't think I should dismiss it.

thats it for today.
